The New iPerformance BMWs are Electric (Literally!)
BMW’s goal is to build the best performance vehicles possible, so they took the advanced dual-engine technology developed for the i8 and engineered the iPerformance collection. These highly-evolved BMWs are more efficient than ever and faster off the line. So, with iPerformance it’s your choice whether you charge up or fuel up.

The electric technology provides improved performance and efficiency compared to standard BMW models, and the electric eDrive motor is powered by a high-voltage lithium-ion battery that allows you to drive with improved efficiency (compared to a standard gas-powered vehicle). The joy of driving is enhanced through performance features such as eBoost, which gives you instant acceleration provided by the electric motor and gas engine working in tandem.
Plug-in hybrid 330e, X5 xDrive40e and 740e xDrive models also feature a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline four-cylinder gasoline engine. And, if the iPerformance benefits and up to EPA rated 71 MPGe aren’t enough to convince you, remember that you might be eligible to receive up to $4688 in federal tax incentives, depending upon which model you choose.
