Sure, this may be what we’d call the “entry-level” edition of the BMW 7 Series, but it’s far from having an entry-level feel. With its 3.0-liter V6 engine delivering 335 horsepower, it certainly has the power you’d expect out of a luxury vehicle. Plus, thanks to the Driving Dynamics Control with five different drive modes, you’re able to exert your influence over each ride.
The cabin conveys the luxury feel well, with 20-way front seats, along with 4-way lumbar support. Of course, you’d expect nothing less than a cabin replete with leather in a luxury vehicle, and the 740i delivers it.
Key comfort and convenience features include:
- Heated steering wheel
- Power rear-window sunshade
- Soft-close automatic door operation
- Automatic 4-zone climate control
- Ground-illuminating lights in the exterior door handles
The Live Cockpit Professional comes with the iDrive 7.0 system, which can be operated via voice, touchscreen, or iDrive touchpad controller. The 10.2-inch touchscreen is where you’ll have control over navigation, music, and so much more.
BMW 750i xDrive
The BMW 7 Series 750i xDrive increases the power output, that’s for sure. The unmistakable 4.4-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo V8 engine makes 523 horsepower. The 8-speed STEPTRONIC automatic transmission this engine is mated to comes with gearshift paddle switches located right on the steering wheel.
While the Dakota Leather is standard on the 740i, this trim features an upgraded feel with Nappa leather upholstery.
The full-color Head-Up Display provides drivers with a wealth of information located right on the windshield. For instance, you’ll know how fast you’re going and where your destination is without having to look away from the road. That’s driving made easier.
BMW 745e xDrive
The 745e xDrive is the plug-in hybrid offering from BMW. It includes a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine, paired with the e-Drive 111 horsepower electric motor, for a total output of 389 horsepower. The 10.3 kWh high-voltage lithium-ion battery pack brings an all-electric driving range rating of around 16 miles, and you’ll be able to charge it with a 240-volt outlet in about four hours.
Audiophiles will fall in love with the Harman Kardon® surround sound audio system. This 16-speaker system includes seven tweeters, seven midrange speakers, and a pair of bass speakers, to deliver a crystal-clear sound everyone inside the cabin will enjoy.
BMW M760i xDrive
The 6.6-liter BMW M Performance TwinPower Turbo V-12 makes 601 horsepower on this trim. It also carries six different driving modes, including a new addition in the SPORT+ mode for an even more energetic feel to your every drive.
The cabin comes with the Nappa leather upholstery on all seats, plus the instrument panel is finished in Nappa leather, too. The comfort and convenience features are plentiful, though the best one for those seated up front may be the massaging front seats. Yes, we said massaging seats, and they’ll help you feel like you have a true home away from home.
Both the front and rear seats are heated and ventilated, so everyone will be happy inside the BMW M760i xDrive regardless of the temperature outside.
BMW ALPINA B7
The ALPINA B7 is produced on the same assembly line as the BMW 7 Series, though ALPINA itself is recognized as a separate automotive manufacturer in Germany.
These cars come with a 4.4-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo V8 engine, which makes 600 horsepower. The 8-speed automatic transmission includes various shift modes and comes with ALPINA SWITCH-TRONIC software with quick-shift buttons, too.
